Abstract

Some physicians and patient advocates contend that many Lyme disease patients suffer a range of symptoms long after treatment. But most academic experts argue that there's little evidence for a chronic form of the disease. This debate, which has become rancorous at times, could be settled by a multimillion-dollar study about to be launched by the National Institutes of Health. But the study itself is also controversial.
